Mary – living from whole half heart

On the occasion of the centenary of the Patrona Bavariae in 2017 I produced a documentary film in 2016 on the subject of Mary worship in Bavaria. This documentary film with the title: ‚Mary- living from whole half heart’ is about the story of a little girl named Mary, who was born with a severe heart defect, and her religious mother Anna.

The mother believes that her prayers to the virgin Mary were very helpful in the healing process of her daughter. The film shows two aspects of the story of the healing process, the medical and the religious point of view, without taking somebody’s side.

Till I Dry Your Tears

As Jesus approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it and said, ‘If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace – but now it is hidden from your eyes.’ (Luke 19, 41-42) Jews, Christians and Muslims live in the most crowded conditions on a scant square kilometer in the Old City of Jerusalem.

How do they live, and how do their daily interpersonal relationships function? To the outside observer, everything seems peaceful. But how is it really? Along with my cameraman, I visited families, including Palestinian ones, and clergymen from all three world religions, to find out more about the situation there.

From Lost to Living

The documentary film is about the Christian children’s aid organisation ‚Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos’, Spanish for ‚Our Little Brothers and Sisters’ in Latin America.

The organisation is celebrating its sixtieth anniversary this year. The film shows four of the eleven children’s villages. The oldest one in Mexico, two in Haiti and a younger one in Peru. The children who live in the villages are all either orphaned, or have been mistreated or abandoned by their parents.

Often the family was simply unable to look after them.

The film tells about a Mexican woman, a Haitian boy and a Peruvian teenager, who were or still are raised in one of the children’s villages. They all had one thing in common: they had a difficult childhood, full of sad experiences, losses and hardships. Then suddenly, at one point in their life, their fates have taken a turn for the better. This has been made possible by ‚Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos’.
